Q: Pages 09' (v. 4.3) on macOS Sierra?

In using Pages 4.3 & Numbers 2.3 in Sierra for the last couple of months I have not had any issues in my every day use.

I'm seeing some garbage characters and weird letterspacing when pasting Japanese text that originated in Word into Pages '09. Also getting garbage characters when copying & pasting text I typed directly into Pages '09. And Japanese text input produces the expected output, but with some weird transient artefacts while I'm typing it.
