After the HP update Aug 31, 2016 to my Mac (Capitan OS), the scanning and saving as a pdf function no longer works directly from the scanner. For example, it scans the 3 pages but gets hung up on 'processing' and never completes the process. To work around, I had to open the HP scanner function from the Mac scanner/printer. Takes many more steps to complete. Unsatisfactory.
Why and how to fix? Apple? HP? Thanks.

I think you may have to go back to the previous driver download, HP Printer Drivers v3.1 for OS X
this means you would need to remove/uninstall the 5.0 drivers. Now if only I could remember how to do that.

I think its just a matter of going to the HP folder in the following path, MacintoshHD >Library >Printers >HP
move the file to the Trash and delete. please make a copy of it first and keep it safe somewhere in case you need to put it back.
Be wise to make a back up first also.
So download v3.1 and install.
