I just purchased an iPhone 7 (128gb) and when trying to play spotify to my Bose QC20 headphones using the new lightning to 3.5mm adapter, the control does not work, and the maximum volume is limited in comparison to my iPhone 6.

Apple is reportedly aware of an issue with headphone controls through the lightning port and is working on a fix.
IOS 10.0.2 fixed this problem for me.
Thanks for posting, I was getting desperate until I found this article. Just bought the 7 yesterday despite reservations about dropping the audio jack. Got it home and started riding my bike... Huge disappointment when controls and audio didn't work. I'm trying the update. Finger crossed. If this doesn't resolve full use of headphone function, I will be taking the 7 back to the store.
