Q: iPhone 5s will not ring or vibrate for calls after IOS 10 update

I have an iPhone 5s that has worked perfectly for over 2 years until I did the IOS 10 update. Now it will not ring or vibrate for incoming calls. It will give sound notifications for all apps, but not the phone. I have checked the side switch, the sounds settings, the mute function under accessibility, the do not disturb and the alert settings under phone. Everything is like it should be to have the sound alerts. This phone has been in an otter box for protection since I got it. Any ideas of anything else I could do to correct this? I am missing every call unless I happen to be looking at the screen.

There are several things you can try. First (and easiest) is a restart and/or forced restart:

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Next (and more drastic) would be a restore from backup and then restore as new:

Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support

Have you tried changing the ringtone in sounds? Just try using setting a different ringtone temporarily. Also, with the phone unlocked, tap on the volume buttons on the side and see what shows on the home screen. Do you see volume and does it show Ringer or something else? Are you using a custom or purchased ringtone, or a native iOS ringtone? Some people have reported ringtone problems on various devices when attempting to use homemade or purchased ringtones.

Thanks for the ideas but yes, I have tried to change the ringtone and used the side buttons to make sure the volume is up. I have only used the native ringtones, I have not used any purchased ringtones. Thank you for the reply.

Hello, welcome to the Apple Support Communities. First off, make sure do not disturb is off. (That was my problem with my iPhone 5s running iOS 10.) Please do not try to restore your iPhone, this is most likely a bug that Apple is going to fix in the next update.

I tried everything except for to turn it off and then turn back on! And the ringer worked after doing that. I went through and double checked every setting that was related to the phone and ringer. It is the simple fixes that I forget the most. Thank you
