No USB hub since OS X sierra update

Hi community,

I'm using an 27" iMac (mid 2010), 2,8GHz Core i5 and updated to macOS Sierra yesterday. I was running the beta versions os macOS Sierra before and everything was fine.

But since I upgraded to the regular version 10.12 my USB hubs are not working any more. Wether it's an USB Stick, my iPhone or external hard drives nothing happens. There were no problems with the beta version.

I reset the SMC already, unplugged the usb hubs from my mac and from the plug socket but without success.

Any ideas how to fix this problem?

Thanks

Chris

Hi there, KaeptnCaipi!

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you are having issues with you iMac and the USB ports. I know how important it is to be sure everything is working properly on the iMac. Resetting the SMC is a great step to start with. First thing you might want to try is checking out this article here about how to Try safe mode if your Mac doesn‘t finish starting up . Even though it talks about starting up issues, it can also disable items during start up that can cause issues.

Next, try the steps in this article that talks about How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac . This step will allow you to test t see if the issues are user specific or system wide.

Cheers!
