Q: I have recently switched from using Yahoo for my mail, to using Mail.

I have recently switched from using Yahoo for my mail, to using Mail. I set it up, and it's working ok. My problem is two fold: I can't find find where the contacts button is, and Mail didn't seem to bring over the group contact files from Yahoo.

    Hi ellis984,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. I understand that you have just switched over to using the Mail app on your iMac and are looking for the contacts button and your group contact files. I use Mail all the time so I can understand your concern. I will be happy to help.

The first thing you will want to check is to see if you have Contacts selected in the Internet Accounts section of System Preferences. See OS X El Capitan: Internet Accounts preferences for more info.

In the Contacts app, you can access your contacts information. Contacts (El Capitan): Contacts overview has information on using the Contacts app.

Contacts (El Capitan): Send email from Contacts, shows how to send an email using the Contacts app.

Use Mail on your Mac, this article goes over everything you need to know about using the Mail app, composing a new email, adding attachments etc. This article should help you to become more familiar with using the Mail app.

    Cheers!

Good time to switch: Yahoo just admitted today they got hacked and at least half a billion email accounts were compromised.  Lots of headaches for Yahoo mail users ahead... (if you're one of them, better go change your password...).  The hack apparently happened in 2014 - hey, Yahoo, thanks for telling us right away...
