email not showing read on another device
I am using an Iphone and an Imac laptop. WHen I read the email on the phone it still shows as new on the laptop.
any ideas?

Try disabling the account and then re-enable.
Mail>Preferences>Accounts>Account Info
If that does not jump start it
then delete the account, and then add it back in. Look at your setting so you can set it back up the same.
