I need to use Symantec VIP Access to login to work from my personal MacBook, but since upgrading to Sierra VIP Access doesn't work. Is there a version that will work with Sierra ? If not it seems to be a major oversight on the part of Apple to not ensure this standard VPN software isn't compatible.

Symantec is third party software. You need to check with their support area on their website.
Just so you aware, Apple is not responsible for third party software compatibility.
The other option is to use the VIP access app on a iPhone for the time being until Symantec releases the newer version of the VIP access for the MacOS Sierra.
Exact same problem i have and i using the above workaround for now.

It is not a major oversight on the part of Apple to insure that third party apps work on the new release of their operating system. Instead it is a major oversight on your part not to check that the third party apps works or not.
Now you will just have downgrade and then wait for Symantec to update their apps so that it functions with Sierra.
I've found that my iPhone VIP random code and my laptop/desktop codes don't match each other.
I can use my other computer's VIP code to access, but if I'm out with only my iPhone, that VIP code won't work.
Any ideas?
The latest version of Symantec VIP Access can be downloaded from here. I tried it myself - working perfectly fine.
I seriously doubt that it is doing anything of practical value on your Mac.

I think it's preventing a bunch of macs I've been asked to support from staying connected to active directory because the mac systems without it dont have the problem.

Looks like it just was released--thank you! This was very hard to find on the Symantec website, but I was able to eventually find it though the knowledge center and I can confirm the link is legit, and it worked perfectly.
Please start your own thread and provide full detail about your problem there rather then hijacking this one.
