PowerPoint for Mac vertical scroll bar not working in Sierra

I downloaded Sierra, opened a PowerPoint for Mac 2011 version 14.5.4 and immediately noticed that the vertical scroll with my mouse does not work. It will only go "up" (eg, slide 14, 13, 12, 11, 10) or will get stuck between 2 slides.

I've unplugged and replugged my mouse, turned PPT off and on twice, and restarted my MacBook. No change.

I know it's early days and these are growing pains with the new OS, but I use PPTX constantly.

Any tips are much appreciated.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014), macOS Sierra (10.12)

Did we get an answer for this. I do large training and work with executives and have found this to be a true problem. The mouse won't scroll up, which means that I can't gracefully or intuitively ever go up a slide using the mouse. This is crazy! Please please please help! thanks guys. Probably an over-site, but really a big challenge. Can you imagine working in a document like word and not ever being able to scroll up with your mouse through a 100 page doc? It's like that. 😕
