Q: Etrecheck: System Lauch Daemons failed

I just ran Etrecheck on my iMac and got an otherwise fine report, except for this line:

System Launch Daemons:

    [failed]    com.apple.softwareupdate_download_service.plist (2015-10-23)

Can someone explain to me what this means? Everything on my computer seems to run fine -- I just did this check after stupidly hitting one of those fake Flash downloads (which I immediately deleted).

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015), OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)

If you suspect problems with your iMac, then please post the complete EtreCheck report.

I did not suspect problems, but I thought this "failure" I pointed out above was odd. Below is the complete report.

Your computer is running well, however it would benefit by upgrading the RAM. You only have the base 8GB installed, at the time of the report only 724MB which is less than 1% was available. I recommend contacting either OWC (www.macsales.com) or Crucial (buy direct) and upgrade the RAM.

As for your original question, disregard.

Thanks! I've been meaning to upgrade my RAM but haven't gotten around to it yet. Just wanted to make sure that "failed" note in my report wasn't a problem.

    Hello nstrong,

You can restart and see if it goes away. That failure may have been related to Apple's big OS release yesterday. Software update may have had problems checking the server.

If the failure continues after a restart, even if you try restarting again after a couple of days, then there might be a problem. But most of these problems just come and go.

Your welcome, the reason I recommended OWC and Crucial is iMacs are sensitive to using quality RAM. Both vendors provide quality RAM at affordable prices. Never purchase discount or "value" RAM for an iMac.
