IOS 6S whatsapp Bluetooth issue

Mine used to do that before the upgrade but now it does nothing. I have an Audi A6.

I have this issue, too, when my iPhone is connected via bluetooth to my car audio system: Whatsapp audio messages are just played as noise.

The problem came up with installing iOS 10 on my iPhone 6 (and the corresponding WhatsApp update), so I can't really say what (iOS or WhatsApp) causes it. What I can say, however, is that the issue is also present on the iPhone 7 that I have just received. Actually, I had hoped that it would not come up on the new phone 😐

In my 2015 Acura TLX with tech package, it only works when I select bluetooth as audio source, if I'm on FM, or CD, Or HDD, the wa voice message tries to send the auido as a call, and it just plays noises or scramble audio messages.

It used to work on iOS 9 sending the audio as a call. but now it does not work at all.

Yes - this is exactly the behavior I observe now. With the iPhone being connected to the car audio system as Bluetooth audio device, it's ok. If any other source is selected (it's a Pioneer Avic F930 BT), the voice message is played as noise only.

I updated the WhatsApp messenger to the latest version released today. and It still has the same problem.

so still no luck. I'm 100% sure its WhatsApp problem, not iOS. we'll have to wait until WhatsApp fix it but I guess they won't anytime soon.

This seems to be the new way IOS 10 links with Bluetooth audio car systems. Same issue here with a VW Jetta and Iphone 6 with IOS10. At least they fixed the "nothing happens" issue when playing whatsapp voice messages but still need to select bluetooth device in the car stereo to hear it when that never happened before.

I have contacted whatsapp support twice and they are adamant it is an iOS issue. I am inclined to believe them.

I Have tried whatsapp and line on 10.1.1 and still isn't working voice message does not work using HFP in order to listen to audio messages you have to be on Bluetooth as audio source in the car stereo.

I Also tried it on 10.2 beta 1 with the same behavior I'm starting to believe it might be the new callkit api the culprit

Viber is working. as expected. when I listen to a voice message it sends the audio to the system using HFP as it was a call and I can listen to it. so yes the problem is WhatsApp.

the only way to listen to an audio message in the car speakers, is to select bluetooth as audio source in the car stereo.

early versions of what's on iOS 9 used to send the audio as a phone call to the speakers.

there are other apps that works just fine like Viber or Line.

I tried on iPhone 6, 6s, 7 and 7 plus with iOS 10 to 10.2 beta 1 and still the bug is present.

I don't want to believe that it's an iOS problem as well, as the other stuff works fine. I also wrote an email to the WhatsApp support. Maybe bugging them helps... although I tend to fear it won't 😟

Wow... it didn't take them 5 minutes to send me the same generic message that was posted before 😠

Same thing happening with me on IPhone 7.
