Unlocked iPhone 7 are not available at the stores. But you can buy a Verizon version of the phone that will work. You will have to pay full price and may have to pay for a month of service. The sim slot is unlocked and will accept a sim for any GSM network including those overseas. What you may not have is 4G service when you return as that depends on the frequency bands that are supported in the phone and the frequency bands that are used in your country.

But be careful as you will have no warranty when you return to your home country. Apple warranties are not global but are restricted to the country in which the device was purchased.
