App Store and stuck with spinning wheel - El Capitain

The Apple menu shows 2 updates available - open App Store and shows no uodates and spinning wheel upper left corner of App Store - multiple reboots command line software update hangs as well. any help appreciated.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013), OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)

Hi bergenfelter,

I see that you've posted today because the Apple menu shows two updates available, but these updates never seem to populate in the App Store. I know it's important to keep your Mac up to date, and I'd like to assist.

My recommendation is to create a new "test" user account and see if you notice the same behavior there. Take a look at this website for more information on how to create a test user account on your Mac:

How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac - Apple Support
After you log into the test user account, check to see if you still see a "2 new" notification in the Apple Menu.

Try resetting the App Store and Clearing Cookies.
