Q: Screen Dims When We Turn Lights Down or Off

As the title suggests, whenever we watch something on Apple TV 4 and dim the lights in the room in which we are watching the screen on the TV dims to unacceptable levels.  We then have to turn the lights back on and the screen will then be brighter.  How can I watch without the lights on?

Thanks

Are you sure it's not just a setting on your TV itself?

Look out for something called "Auto Brightness".....

No that isn't the problem. The TV works fine in the dark. its only when using Apple TV.

Okay, I just want to clarify what's going on here.

When watching Apple TV and you dim the lights, the picture darkens and becomes hard to see. On the other hand, when you brighten the lights back to where you started, the TV brightens back to where it started.

    Correct?

If this is the case I really think it may be a setting on your TV (what kind of TV do you have?)... Why do I think this? Your Apple TV has no light sensitivity meter on it, so it can't tell the light from the dark, but your TV may do so. Different HDMI inputs commonly have their own settings. I assume your Apple TV is connected with HDMI. I urge you to check that input and look for "Auto Brightness" or "Energy Saving" modes.

    Hope that helps...
