facetime is not accepting my icloud id and pass. "An error occurred during activation. Try again".
Anyone else getting the same error? any resolutions yet? Been trying for 3 days to activate it now.

I have the same problem, over to you apple.
Me too. Upgraded from OS X 10.11 to MacOS 10.12 sierra. Camera light permanently on after Sierra upgrade but no application recognizes the camera. In other troubleshooting documents, these Terminal commands were recommended but have failed to remedy the issue:
lsof | grep "USBVDC"
lsof | grep "AppleCamera"
sudo killall VDCAssistant

How is this Solved? I dont see a solution in this discussion???
I have the same question. It says "an error occurred during activation"
It worked on my phone but when I turn off and on Facetime now says "Waiting for activation..."
And it's been like that for days. Any help @Apple ?
Same here. It tells me I need to log back into FaceTime but when i enter the correct info, the icon just spins and nothing happens.
Yes I don't know how it got marked as solved. I am unable to sign in my iPhone 6 (ios 10) and macbook. iPhone only has the GSM number active as facetime. Not my icloud id.
Been trying since the day I updated to ios 10 and Sierra.
Anyone has any solutions?
Yes, and I was afraid there would be some problem with the update as there almost always is.
I've reset the PRAM and the SMC did call Apple and they had me go to Recovery and run the disk utility, did that twice.
Their next suggestion was for me to reinstall the download --- which I did the following day. STILL having issues.
My CAM or Isight will not turn off and often times have a Beach Ball spinning it's crazy head off. I occasionally if wait long enough can open preferences but other times it won't open. There is NO indexing going on at all either.
So, What do you do when APPLE BREAKS something - hopefully there's enough people that have the problem and theres a fix - that or downgrade.
Hey guys,
I have spoken with apple support and after I have deleted the file com.apple.FaceTime.plist and restarted my computer I was able to open Facetime.
Then I turned off Facetime and turned it on back and now it is working totally fine.
I hope it helps you.
This does not really help me.
I can open Facetime, no issues there but can't login with my apple ID.
Even if I put correct info it says "An error occurred during activation. Try again"
The only way I'm logged in on Facetime is on iPhone via phone number, but the other ways dont work.
Still the same issue. No fix yet from Apple or anything on the internet. I am not able to use my Apple ID for facetime. Been trying everyday!!
I have the problem. I can use it but it is very slow in openings and not react on the call if not on.
I tried but not possible to delete file com.apple.FaceTime.plist. It says not possible to modificate or delete because needed by OS. Please how you delete it?
Guys,
I came across this post. Though it did not work for me but you could try. It might work for some as I see lots of people in the responses thanking the author.
I don't have that file? but cannot connect to FaceTime?
An error occurred during activation.
Try again
what is going on???
Guys,
I have been chatting with Apple Support for the past 5-4 days now with no success. I have, however, noticed something last night. I am able to activate facetime on macbook and iphone with a new apple id i created yesterday.
I am not sure why this is happening but there is not issue with my mac or iphone after the update. This has something to do with the apple id account. I have scheduled a call with apple support for tomorrow. If I resolve the issue I will come back and write it all here. Stay tuned!
