iphone voicemail issues iOS 10

I have an iPhone 6s with the new iOS 10. When I click on a voicemail it often closes as soon as it opens. I get a glimpse of the transcription but don't have time to even click Play before it closes. This will happen several times before I can actually view it and/or listen to it. I quit the phone app and reopen it but it still happens. Then other times a voicemail opens as it should. I've turned the phone off and on many times, and I've reset the network settings, but still have this issue. Any solutions?

I have had this voicemail issue with my iPhone 7 Plus 128GB since November and I have swapped the phone at Apple store 3 times already. I have spent so many hours back and forth with probably 10-15 Apple advisors, sr. advisors and Genius Bar technicians with out any resolution. All of them (I really mean ALL OF THEM) said they've never heard of this issue before. The second time that I went to Apple Store, the Genius Bar technician came out to replace my phone, I asked him if he uses an iPhone 7/7plus and he said yes. So I asked him to see his phone if he has the same issue. Guess what? YES, he does have the same issue. He has AT&T and I have T-Mobile.

A couple of apple support peoples told me that it's not Apple that caused the problem because iPhone is just a device that get pushed voicemail from the carrier. They threw me to T-Mobile which I had spent several hours trying to pinpoint where the problem was. One of the apple support tole me the issue might be the SIM. I did change the SIM a couple of time. NO IT'S NOT THE ISSUE WITH CARRIERS!

As of 3/10/17, THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS!!! Last time I talked to Apple Customer Care/Relation department was 3/10/17 and demanded for a FULL REFUND and a gentleman that I talked to REFUSED!

That was it! I stopped using the iPhone and Apple Watch S2 and now using an Android Huawei Mate 9 & Galaxy S3 Classic since then and never regret. I did sent a lengthly email (yes, I documented every calls I made with Apple) to Tim Cook and sent him on regular mail via USPS as well. Let's wait and see if Mr. Cook is just another Apple employee that doesn't care.

My business is depended on voicemail and I lost a business opportunity because I couldn't check my voicemail.

I had been using nothing but iPhones since 2007. This voicemail issue made me really angry that the original poster posted since September 2016 and now is 8 pages long and NO WORDS from Apple!

I just wanted to have a WORKING iPHONE! I miss Steve!

I am experiencing this ever since update. I had an IPhone ) and it got so bad I went to ATT after numerous cases worn ATT Technical Support and at least 3 restores of my phone with Apple and I purchased an IPhone 7. SAME problem.

Funny you call Apple and they state they have never heard of this issues. Same with ATT. I have another appt with ATT Corporate store next week and I am saving this link.

I run a small business and this problem is stating to affect my livelihood so I may be changing phones and carriers. So sick of this !!!

It's Apple. Not the phone carriers. I have seen the same problem with T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon.

Yesterday, there was a call from the same sr. Apple relations that called me a week ago. I don't know if my email & letter that I sent it directly to Tim Cook caused him to call me.

I'm thinking of a way to get Apple to compensate us (not only me) who effected with this voicemail issue.

That would be nice especially since I just purchased a new iPhone 7 two days ago thinking that would alleviate the issue. Apple continues to deny to me that anything is wrong. They act like you are crazy when you call. I started videoing my attempts to listen to vm and sent it to ATT the other day and will also send to Apple.

I can't believe this cannot be remedied. I am just sick of being ping ponged between Apple and the carrier.

Keep us posted

I Have the same issue. I had an iPhone 6 Plus. Called AT&T in December, they reset my voicemail with no luck. Took my phone to AT&T, they swapped out my SIM card with no luck. When to Apple Store same day, they did a total reset, no go again. So I go back to AT&T, bought a brand New 7 plus. I am so upset, I just spent 870.00 traded my phone for messley $145.00 to find 2 weeks later the issue is still there! Just spent hours on the phone with AT&T again with no Luck. They have started a escalated tech support ticket. I have other family members that have iPhones and are not having issues. They also get their voicemails transcribed that I don't get either.

BEyond aggravated I own my own business and not getting voicemail is a serious issue. Please if anyone finds the resolution for this let us know!!!

Today I received a call from Corporate Executive Relations on behalf of Tim Cook. I guess he reads and screens the email for Tim Cook. He wanted me to continue working with their engineer, which I had been working with their sr. advisor/engineer since Feb. 3, 2017 on troubleshoot, reset and uploaded a series of requested necessary files to them and no responses so I sent an email/letter to Mr. Cook. Now, all of the sudden, a call from Corp. Executive!!!!

I simply asked him why I should waste more time with Apple when they've never listened to their customers voices, especially from this thread since September 21, 2016. It's been over 6 months, half way through the 10th iPhone anniversary. He doesn't have an answer for me on how long it will take for their engineer to solve this problem. So his response to me was basically the same as their lower rank customer relations which didn't help.

Does anyone here want to waste time with Apple and be their beta tester to solve this problem?

I had the same voicemail issue with my iPhone 6. I called my service provider (AT&T) to see if they could fix it on their end. I spoke to 2 reps there and since they couldn't fix the problem, the AT&T tech support directly contacted Apple Support and explained my issue to them. Apple Support took over from there. On my phone, the tech had me reset the network by going to Settings, General, Reset, Reset Network Settings. After my phone restarted and I gave it a couple minutes to fully restart, I no longer had a voicemail issue! Plus, it didn't erase any of my voicemails. Just to forewarn you though, resetting the network will clear all your saved Wi-Fi settings so you're going to have to sign back in once you're up and running again.

Hope this helps everyone else too!

Me too! If it was that simple, I wouldn't have my 4th iPhone from Apple Store and I wouldn't send Tim Cook an e-mail.

Currently as I can tell, there is no fix on this voicemail issue. My next step is to copy one post per day from this thread and send it to Tim Cook. I can easily send him email everyday for at least a month from 9 pages. I just need him to hear us out!

I worked with the Sr Support Tech for a few weeks trying to troubleshoot this and nothing worked. You can read through my saga in previous posts. My boss got fed up with me not listening to his voicemails, so they swapped out my phone from a 5S to a 6 we had as a spare to see if that would help. It didn't. I am waiting for iOS 10.3 and if that does not solve it, I will likely ask to be switched to an Android. Voicemails are a critical part of our business.

Today I emailed the Sr Tech that I was working with asking for an update and this is the response I got:

"Thank you for contacting Apple Care. I have not heard any other updates regarding the voicemail issue. The Engineers are looking into reports of this issue, and have not given a response to the fix as of yet. You can however hold the number 1 on your keypad to listen to the voicemail until they have determined what is causing, it and provide us with a fix.

If you have additional questions in relation to this particular case, please feel free to contact me using the info below."

If people still read and post to this thread, the problem still exists! I am happy for those who got it resolved permanently but I still have this issue.

I think this is a very SERIOUS issue that Apple does not want to touch it. It might effect others functions and create more issues. Do you think they are not aware of it? The best defense is just keep quite and let the time goes by and they hope people will get tire and forget about it and moves on.

We are half way to the new 10th iPhone anniversary. Come on Apple!
