Oct 4, 2016 1:36 PM in response to JetEngr19by IrishManShaner,iPhone 7 128gb in Canada (on Rogers) experience the same issues with multiple GPS apps / services. About to try a factory reset and restore from iCloud backup. Anyone else had good success with this as a troubleshooting step?

Oct 4, 2016 2:02 PM in response to JetEngr19by Timevans5,iPhone 7 128G Matte Black. No mapping applications seem to be able to provide me accurate data. The icon jumps off the screen and seems to "be lost". Doesn't help when I'm trying to use the map because I am trying to avoid being lost.

Oct 7, 2016 5:41 AM in response to Timevans5by jesbreslaw,I'm having the same problem on Strava - runs measuring longer and recorded route is wavey. Is this a hardware issue or software one? Right PITA

Oct 8, 2016 10:50 PM in response to JetEngr19by Jonno13,Yes, me too!!
iPhone 7 128GB Matte Black purchased in Florence on release day.
Does anyone suggest what to do here? Wait for a software fix or get a hardware replacement (which I'd like to avoid).

Oct 9, 2016 1:16 AM in response to Jonno13by DrHekrim,Same here: iPhone 7 128GB Matte Black
During the last weeks I went through all the possible steps with Apple Online Support (Chat) and in the Apple Store. In the end, they gave me a brand new iPhone 7, but even that didn't resolve the issue.
I think it's an iOS 10 bug and it will hopefully be resolved in one of the next updates.
It's slightly better, since they made me turn off LTE-Voice.

Oct 9, 2016 1:24 AM in response to DrHekrimby Mike Zanker,After some testing, I think it's software, too. If I turn on airplane mode (so that it's only using GPS satellites), then turn location services off and on again, it's very accurate. I can walk around my house and see the dot moving with me in Google Maps (which works in airplane mode).
As soon as I turn airplane mode off, the blue dot starts jumping around. It also jumps around on my (WiFi only) iPad Air 2 since upgrading to iOS 10.

Oct 10, 2016 8:13 AM in response to JetEngr19by Jsnhardy,Same issue here with iPhone 7+ 128gb matte black. I am a driver and depend heavily on the GPS, I use it about 15 seperate times a day. I never once for nearly 2 years had a problem with my iPhone 6 GPS. From day one with the 7+ it's been a huge headache. It only works about 50% of the time, the other half of the time it gets stuck in a field, or doesn't know where I'm at. The problem usually last for about 5 minutes before it finally figures out where it's at again for a few minutes.
I had an idea to open up the compass app while the phone is lost, and the compass had no clue where North is.
So I got sick of pulling over and waiting for the phone to set course again while I'm in unfamiliar neighborhoods, and I made an appointment with apple.
The first thing they tried was resetting the phone as new without an iCloud restore. Needless to say this did not help. They said bring it back if I still had an issue and they would probably replace the phone itself.
So about 4 days later I was finally able to get in with an appointment to an apple store, and the extremely nice guy replaced the phone. I thought for sure this nightmare would be behind me.
The replacement phone is just as bad as the first one, the GPS is completely useless.
So now I'm trying to decide if I want to downgrade iPhones and go back to a 6, switch over to Android, Or shell out some money for a Garmin.
At this point I am furious that I have an $850 telephone that can't find itself. I don't know where to go from here.

Oct 10, 2016 4:20 PM in response to JetEngr19by Deltapilot,I just got my iPhone 7 Plus and am noticing that the GPS jumps around as well. I got completely lost trying to find a location using Apple Maps because the GPS was bouncing around and kept reporting wrong directions. In one case today, I was on the 405 North in Seattle and I needed to get to a destination off the 90 West. The navigation directions on Apple maps said I was a full 2.1 miles away from the 90W, but in reality I was only about 200 feet from it. I had full bars and a good signal so couldn't understand how this could be. The rest of the trip where I really need directions was hopeless. I even turned off the FWY and switched to Google Maps thinking that it was purely an Apple Maps issue. I got just as poor results using Google Maps as the location kept jumping around. I've been an iPhone 6 user for a couple of years and never experienced anything like this. I'm really hoping it's a software issue because backing up and restoring to a new phone is so time consuming. I'll continue to monitor this thread - but it looks like the issue really needs to be addressed as there are many others reporting similar issues.

Oct 10, 2016 4:58 PM in response to Will birdby Will bird,Apple contacted me back and had me run a special detailed location logging profile a few days ago. I loaded it and did a few tests using various first and third party apps while in motion and stationary and sent the data logs in.
I just installed a new iOS beta 10.1 (build 14B71) and the gps glitches seem to be fixed. I'll see with more use but at first glance I'm not getting horrible accuracy readings or jumping around like crazy!

Oct 11, 2016 4:16 AM in response to Will birdby DrHekrim,I'm also using build 14B71 (Public Beta 3), but GPS is still crazy.
I just noticed, that my compass is approx. 30 degrees wrong. So north is shifted 30 degrees to the west. A reboot should recalibrate the compass, but it's still wrong.

Oct 11, 2016 9:19 AM in response to JetEngr19by Surge479,my iPhone 7 on sprint appears to be having similar gps issues as everyone else here. tested connected to lte/3G separatley also wifi and airplane mode. In all scenarios compass had readings off between 30-120 degrees. In addition my gps does not work when driving, it will freeze and then get lost having me faced east whilst driving north etc. I first noticed this while playing Pokémon go of course and I have tried resetting my phone, network settings to backups and fresh installs. Im going to be getting a replacement and hope that it works. Hearing that iOS 10.1 beta 3 doesn't fix it gives me little hope to have this resolved should it be a software issue.
Goodluck everyone

Oct 11, 2016 7:16 PM in response to JetEngr19by michael90s,In the Waze app on my iPhone 7 I get the message sometimes that there is no GPS. This is happening in areas that with my iPhone 6 Plus I had no issues before. And this GPS issue seems to be a problem in Google Maps as well, I have not tried the native Maps app yet...

Oct 12, 2016 1:07 PM in response to JetEngr19by GenHi,I have the same issue, I restored the phone and still the same. Happens with all apps using GPS, it's impossible to use Waze and most of the time I get a message with "no gps signal". Using iPhone 7 Plus. . Had to go back to my 6s while they figure out the problem.

Oct 14, 2016 6:41 AM in response to JetEngr19by jerixsen,I'm also experiencing gps issues with my ATT iphone 7. I first noticed the issue while using runkeeper where the total recorded mileage was higher than it should be for known routes. When I went back to runkeeper to review the recorded route, the path was all over the place. Likewise, in Maps, my location hops around everywhere, sometimes being a whole city block off. My iPhone 6s was solid and never had this issue and I'm hoping this is just a software issue.
