Q: Crashing. WoW. Legion.

I am currently using a late 2012 Imac with El Capitan installed & up to date.  I turn off all 'memory-hogs' before logging in. I use the recommended Blizzard settings for WoW.  There is screen tearing, and the game crashes the entire system at least once every session.  Is there any way to correct this problem?  I realize Metal isn't working well yet. I absolutely do not want to go to a PC!

    Could be RAM and it could be video hardware, neither of which we know. Apple has a lot of variants with different video hardware. Please do "About this Mac" from your Apple menu and post what you see in the Overview screen. On my iMac it looks like this:

    That will show the screen size, your installed RAM and the video hardware. HOWEVER be sure to redact the serial number as I have in the above image.

     

    21.5-inch iMacs often have slower and less powerful processors and integrated graphics that are less suited for gaming. The 27-inch models usually have higher specs.
