Q: numbers for el capitan removed already - really?

So, after crashes with early versions of El Capitan, I finally did a reformat of my hard drive and have my system running smoothly with 10.11.  But just when I get that done, (and one day after Sierra is released mind you) the AppStore no longer has a version of Numbers that runs on El Capitan!  What gives? Given my earlier problems with the El Capitan upgrade, I am not about to be an early adopter of Sierra just so I can install Numbers.  Other software vendors continue to make available versions of their software that work with earlier OS editions, why can't Apple?

BTW: In my house we have 2 iMacs, 4 iPhones, 5 iPads, 1 AppleTV, and 3 MacBooks, and have been Apple Mac customers continuously since our first MacPlus.  ****

ps. I'll understand if you don't post this here, but please see that it gets to your product manager(s). Thanks. - SL.
