Hello world,

I've some problem with Arduino and my Mac OSX version (Yosemite, as told in the title).

I tryed to install the driver for CH340G on my computer due to problem to put the program inside the board, but I'd got no result, then I tryed other ways.

First, the error message was "can't open "/dev/**.wch" no such file or directory", then I used the terminal ( ls /dev/tty.* ) in order to look at the hardware connected to the computer, but I didn't notice any changing with and without Arduino board.

After some research, I ran across a lot of website that didn't work :

http://forum.arduino.cc/index.php?topic=351999.0 <-- this topic gave a some piece of information, but none worked

http://kig.re/2014/12/31/how-to-use-arduino-nano-mini-pro-with-CH340G-on-mac-osx -yosemite.html <-- didn't work

https://github.com/adrianmihalko/ch340g-ch34g-ch34x-mac-os-x-driver <-- Still giving the same kind of problem

http://www.prolific.com.tw/US/ShowProduct.aspx?p_id=225&pcid=41

http://www.ftdichip.com/FTDrivers.htm

I got no changes after trying these options, in spite of following as much as possible websites instructions.

After following the pieces of advices of the website https://arduino.stackexchange.com/questions/5119/arduino-nano-no-serial-port-for -macbook-air-2013 I got a (really really) fat message from the terminal commande, but these lines were recurrent :

Referenced from: /Applications/Arduino.app/Contents/Java/hardware/tools/avr/bin/../libexec/gcc/a vr/4.9.2/liblto_plugin.so

Expected in: /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib

The text in bold is the line which appear most often, but I didn't find any solution for my OSX version (Yosemite 10.10.5)

If someone has an idea about the way I can solve that, I would be very grateful. If the ones who are paying attention to my message need pieces of information to understand my problem (screenshots, issues report,...), I'll give it as soon as possible,

Thanks a lot!

Hi, panagorn! Thanks for joining Apple Support Communities!
It appears that after you upgraded your MacBook Pro to macOS Sierra, you connected Arduino and the Mac booted to a black screen. I'll be glad to help.
1. Try safe mode if your Mac doesn‘t finish starting up -- Safe mode makes sure your Mac is starting up right.
2. How to Reset NVRAM on your Mac -- Resetting NVRAM is indicated when there's an issue with the display.
3. Reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac -- Resetting the System Management Controller makes sure everything starts up correctly.
Arduino - Contact Us -- If the above steps haven't helped, contact Arduino for help.

Have a great weekend!

I have tested and every time I plug in an arduino that has ch340 or ch341 chip for usb2serial communication my mac restarts whit a screen showing "there was a problem", but any other chip based arduino or ESP8266 has no problem. Now all there is to figure out why is this particular chip a problem for the new macOS Sierra.

PS: I didin't have to install mac os clean, everything else works fine.

Hi, same happened to me after Sierra update last week. Small Pros Mini or Mega board OK, but one clone UNO which worked OK in Mavericks suddenly hard reboots my Mac Pro Retina 2015. Regularly, some 3 seconds after the board is plugged in either USB port or to a USB HUB. Checked different cables too. Latest IDE for Sierra loaded too. No idea how to fix this. Would be good to be able to again connect it again and use for projects 🙂

I am almost sure this is caused by the Sierra update 😟

So I got an advice, which finally solved the issue. The trick is a updated driver for the clone arduino serial chipsets (if I understand it well). The proposed driver can be downloaded here: https://github.com/adrianmihalko/ch340g-ch34g-ch34x-mac-os-x-driver

And the credit goes here: http://kig.re/2014/12/31/how-to-use-arduino-nano-mini-pro-with-CH340G-on-mac-osx -yosemite.html

Good luck to everyone!
