Hi @ng3λ

I got the exact same issue - appearing suddenly out of nothing while on a business trip with my iPhone 5s - 16 GB - on IOS 10.2

Funny enough, I was made aware of this issue from a peer at work with her exact same iPhone which she faced this issue since two weeks. All of a sudden appearing... while barely having used the phone.

My personal iPhone SE on 10.1.1 is - yet - fine (fingers crossed it remains this way).

Is there any fix / suggestion available to this issue - as I a m no longer properly reachable.

The same thing has been happening to my iPhone 6. It shuts down around 90 percent sometimes. It also goes from 100% battery to 1% minutes, usually less than ten. I always have to keep my phone plugged into the charger so it doesn't shut down. And when it does shut down, I can only turn it back on if it's plugged into the charger. And it has around 80% battery when it comes back on. This bug is infuriating. I can't keep my phone charging constantly just so I can use it. It's absurd. I wish apple would fix this. They are such a massive company, I expect better from them. I'm pretty close to ditching them for Samsung.

Hi my iphone 6 also shuts down unexpectedly post ios 10.3, what happens in my phone when battery level reaches 64%, then phone switch off. and when i tried to swicthed ON,

it says my battery is dead and need to plug the charger...

phone can switch on only after charge plugged in...

but when i switch ON.. the battery level is at 64%... so i need to recharge battery every time it reaches to 65%.. otherwise phone gets swicthed off..

this is really annoying... i never expected iphone to be this troublesome..

Hope Apple Co will solve this on immediate basis.

I too have iphone6, 10.3.2, and have this issue. My battery is never low when it happens, I had my screen off, and I wasn't using my phone much. I go to turn it back on, and nothing happens, and it always happens when I'm not using my phone heavily, right after I laid it down and didn't need it for a bit. Only way to bring it back to life, usually, is to hold power button, and it powers on like it was off. I can't explain it at all.

I'm really too afraid to take it to an apple store at the moment, at least until I know more about the issue. I need to keep this iphone6 working and running for a while, till I'm ready to upgrade. Any ideas on what the real issue is?

I've had my battery replaced just last summer, about a year ago. Although I never had battery issues, when I had my case repaired by Apple authorized repair shop, they told me my battery was bad.

I'm a Apple Certified Mac Technician, and used to service devices at IBM. I've never seen this type of issue in over 3 years of being a subject matter expert.

Someone recommended this article: http://ioshacker.com/how-to/battery-issues-iphone-ipad-randomly-turning-might-fi x, I'm going to try this tonight and see if helps.

Hello surehsusin,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

I see that after updating to iOS 10, your iPhone 6 is intermittently shutting down unexpectedly, and the iPhone is slow to respond. I definitely wouldn't want that to happy to my iPhone, and I want you to be able to rely on your device. I can help you with this issue.

Since you just updated to iOS 10, I would take a look at the App Store and make sure that your apps have the latest updates. After a new iOS software release, developers will often release new app versions that improvements in compatibility.

Please follow these steps:
  1. Open the App Store and tap Updates.
  2. If updates are available, tap Update All.
  3. If asked, enter your Apple ID password.
Then, please Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch , and test to see if you get the same result with the iPhone intermittently shutting down.

All the best.

have the same issue with iphone 6i think the issue appeared when i upgraded to 10.1 . thought that 10.1.1 will solve it but i think it made it worst.
apple support via twitter told me that are aware of the issue... made a diagnostic test on my battery. batter is like new... told me to keep my device up to date like i always do but no new updates for a couple of weeks and also after that they do not respond to my twitter mention or DM
my issue exactly... : charging the phone 3 times every day instead of 1 that i used to and also used all the tips how not to drain my battery. every helpfull thingy is off on my phone. still no change. so when my phone goes to 49-48 % battery with minimal use... it goes to 1% and shuts down. no warning. then i am not able to switch it on. looks like a dead battery.
so i plug it in to charge it, switches on and goes str8 to 50%.
the worst part is that apple does not respond to me. am using iphones and ipads since iphone 4 and it is the first time i am facings such an issue...
once again the worst part is that apple support does not SUPPORT me

Same here. My iPhone 6 and my wife's iPhone 5 are showing this behavior too. They shutdown and the no-battery icon appears on screen. If you plug the wire, it reboots at 40-50% battery which is depleted in minutes unless the power-saving mode is enabled, it can last almost a day in this mode. If they were broken batteries, they wouldn't last so much.

Also the shutting down issue has appeared simultaneously since iOS 10 installation. Tried a full clean and reinstall (even in DFU mode) with no success.

Must say that the iPhone 5's battery was replaced by Apple like 2 years ago. Definitely its a software related issue, it's giving bad charge information, which makes the phone thinks that battery is empty.
