I am looking to use a tv tuner usb device on my macbook pro. It's a mid 2010 2.4 GHz intel Core 2 Duo with 1-TB hard drive and 8 gigs of memory, the current version is OS X El Capitan 10.11.6. I bought it new in July 7 of 2010 and updated the memory and hard drive myself and still performs great. I would like to watch tv when my wife shops and I am sitting in my truck waiting on her.

I purchased a tuner from Elgato several years ago and I have only praise for it. Apparently it is no longer available from the company but per the link, it has good reviews and there are some to be purchased from third party vendors.
Note that an antenna will also be required.

No antenna comes with the tuner. There is a coax connector where you can attach an external 'over the air' antenna or a cable service connection.

Thank you OGELTHORPE, I had check some websites to see what is out there for a usb tv tuner for mac. Not much out there and what I had seen on eBay and amazon, real expensive but I am still searching.
