Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem or a suggestion for change. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem/suggested change solved sooner.
Hi Patricia. After updating to Sierra, I lost the web view of my DVR. My problem is exactly yours. I've already enabled the QT plugin, activated it on Safari preferences, but everytime I try to access, it displays a big animated Q. It was working on macOS previous version.
I'd like to know if you could find the solution and if you can share with me.
Thanks.
Well, no update to this thread is several months, so it appears that the only solution is going to be a new DVR. It's a shame, because one of the main reasons that I bought this CCTV DVR is because cameras could be monitored in OS X Safari Browser.
Yep, just the big Quicktime Q logo in the camera windows. Followed all of the instructions to put the plugin back to the /library/Internet Plugins folder, and yes, in Safari preferences Qucktime is enabled for DVR.
The CCTV DVR is updated to latest firmware, which is date April 2017. Good luck trying to get an answer from the suppliers of this DVR in China.
Options; iPhone, iPad, Winblows I/E, or buy a new CCTV DVR that works in OS X.
Sierra and Safari 10 moves to a more modern HTML 5 standard that eliminates the need for browser plug-ins.
Your software needs to update the page code it writes to stop calling for a plug-in.
I am a novice and have no idea what to do I open my cameras by putting the IP address in the address bar and usually the screen shows the 4 cameras as can be seen on the monitor that is connected to the DVR. This monitor is upstairs in a cupboard and not accessible downstairs that is why I want to use my Mac downstairs.
How do I access them now?
Try going to your hard drive level Library/Internet Plug-Ins. Look for a Disabled Plug-ins folder. If the Quicktime Plug-in is there, drag it to the Internet Plug-ins folder. Restart Safari and test.
Thank you I have done this but not made any difference
All I get is the big Q in each of the screens
Hi, I have tried but not working
Check Safari/Preferences/Security to make sure Allow Plug-ins is checked. Then click Plug-in Settings to make sure the Quicktime plug-in is checked and on.
unsolved problem with the version of os x EL capitan worked nancy ......... I tried everything, everything enabled but not working Quick Time plugin can you help me ????
Same here. Everything enabled but now all I see is a big Quicktime logo and some sort of dotted (and never ending) loading animation.
It appears Apple hasn't updated the plug-in, so it won't work.
You´re right Eric. That might well be the cause.
A bit confusing though as Apple´s tutorial on how to re-enable the QT plugin also includes Sierra.
I have the same issue. Thanks for sharing everyone. Hopefully the problem can be fixed soon.
