Q: Mail attachments on Sierra
Hi,
Since I installed Sierra today, Mail has stopped letting me open or save email attachments. When I attempt dragging an attached file to Desktop, the icon of the file shows a "Stop" sign, which indicates that I've no persmission to perform this operation. When I select "Quick look attachments", the following error message pops up: "Mail was unable to save the attachment "attachmentname. type" ... Verify that your downloads folder exists and is writable".
Please help!!

The downloaded attachments go into a Mail Downloads folder that is in the Mail "Container".
I just tested removing the Mail Downloads folder and it survived, recreated, and updated when I Quicklooked an attachment.
To view the location of the Mail Downloads folder, use Go To Folder in Finder and paste in this path:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library
Quit Mail, try deleting the Mail Downloads folder, then open Mail.
See if you can Quicklook the attachments.
