Problem opening Pages
Yesterday I installed an update on my iMac OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 and today I can't open any of my Pages files because it says "required index.xml file is missing". Help!

DId you update Pages too, open the Mac App Store and check for updates. If any updates appear please install them.
BTW, I am asking the moderators to move this thread to the Pages forum.
Solution: Quit Pages '09, and then double-click on that Pages v5 document to open it in your version of Pages v5.
Pages v5 documents are not backwards compatible with Pages '09, and if you try to open one with the older Pages, you will be scolded about the missing index.xml file that Pages '09 requires.
When you click on the red traffic light from the document's title bar, it closes the document, but does not close the application. Thus, Pages '09 continues to run, and intercept efforts to open any Pages document.

You have tried to open a Pages 5.x file with Pages '09.
right click on the file and open it with Pages 5.x (the orange icon).
It worked, but that is weird, because it was already in the newer pages (orange icon). But just now after I opened it according to your directions, I tried editing it, saving it, and opening again just as usual, and it works now! Guess I'll have to do that with all pages files now! Thanx!
