Q: Do all iPhone and MacBook products have Antivirus, Malware Protection and Spyware software pre-installed prior to purchasing them?

It is my understanding that Sophos is on the MacBook 13"...As per a recent purchase (4/2016) of a MacBook Air, I really need to know what antivirus, malware and spyware protection is or is not , "Already on a new device" or what Apple recommended products are available for both hard-wired and Airport Express and Time Capsule Wireless network and internet protection? I have a "stand alone dedicated cable modem" for internet services via Comcast. Modem: Motorola 7420...

Thanks in advance for your help and Best Regards...

No, Sophos is not part of either the iPhone or Macs when bought new.  You can install it if you wish to on your Mac but not on the iPhone.

There are no 3rd party security apps recommended by Apple.

Macs already contain the necessary security software within them made by Apple.

The very nature of the iPhone precludes any virus or other malware from infecting them, so no added security is necessary.

If you want to protect your network, you can install a hardware Firewall between your ISP provided modem and the rest of the network.

The best thing you can do, is exercise common sense when on line.  Do not click on links on websites you don't trust. Do not download software to your Mac from unknown sources, and do not fall for prize scams, or infection notices when browsing the web.
