Q: Will this Java package work on macOS Sierra?
I'm running a piece of old software that requires this Java version to run on OS X El Capitan, and I'm eager to upgrade to macOS Sierra, but not sure if this Java version will continue to work on that OS. Thanks!

Java for external applications (e.g Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) require the Apple Java

Although this software does not state it was developed for 10.11 it did work for most if not all applications requiring it but your results may vary.
Web based applications that require Java will need the Oracle Java for Mac which claims compatibility with OS 10.6 and 10.7 but does not mention other OS X iterations, but have historically worked with later versions of OS X.
