Q: No WIFI after sleep
I have a mid 2011 Mac Mini. Just updated it to Sierra. All is good, but I noticed that when it comes out of sleep mode, I need to manually reconnect to my wifi. I did not see this behavior in El Capitan. Any ideas?

One has to assume that you've checked & reset the setting to allow the
Mac to connect to previously used wi-fi network or favorite and keep it
logged into the chosen one. Especially if there are several in your area
and you can only use yours (given others aren't open &/or aren't yours.)

If the settings for network preferences and your wi-fi airport are correct,
you could try & reset SMC, the power manager; or otherwise change the
contents of • NVRAM or PRAM on Intel-based Macs. Details about what
to expect these settings to accomplish do not specify Wi-Fi or airport.

Sometimes a simple shut-down and restart in Safe mode, can help the Mac
check & fix basic stuff. Hold Shift key on startup, then login for Safe mode.
Some may try 'repair permissions.' Later on just restart the system normally.
There may be some system log files generated in association with this; but
they may be hard to decipher. The Console utility log shows way too much.
I'm wondering if the base station needs to be associated with the later version
of AirPort Utility found within the newest macOS; sometimes there may be an
update or other change in software or firmware given a new MacOS.
You can use Wireless Diagnostics to easily identify and resolve Wi-Fi issues.

An occasional reset of the AirPort base can be useful, in a process of elimination
and troubleshooting; one of several things to read and determine if it may help.

Sorry I don't really know why your wi-fi is dropped on waking. Mine has been
stable enough, but I do not administer my wi-fi with the newest OS X, since I
have four older Macs using their last vintages & want them to keep working.
Good luck in this matter!
