Iphone 5 and IOS 10 problem.

While I was able to update my Iphone 5 to IOS 10, a friend of mine tried, but now his Iphone 5 has the Itunes logo and the lightning cable. Doesn't work. He has tried to follow instructions, but to no avail.

What must he do to get his Iphone to work?
