Q: PhotoShop Elements (Organizer) no longer works after Sierra Upgrade

After installing Sierra, the "Organizer" portion of PhotoShop Elements 14 (PSE 14) no longer works. The editor portion still continues to work fine.

thanks,

Jim

Thanks! Just submitted the "feedback" form.  Also sent an email to Apple Support.

Did call Apple Support and they were very pleasant. The representative checked with a number of people and verified that if you purchased Adobe Photoshop Elements through the App Store you would not receive a key or serial number. She then called Adobe for me and stayed on the line. They reiterated that they don't provide phone support for Elements and that Chat was the only option (which I tried yesterday). They also insisted that if I didn't have a Serial number or Key they would NOT provide even "Chat Support.) So I am officially at an impasse! If Adobe does issue a "patch" for Sierra I won't be able to get it, unless it is pushed from the App Store, and no one at Adobe will help me resolve the issue because I purchased Photoshop Elements through Apple's App Store (no key or serial number).

From another discussion board it appears the App Store version is slightly different than the "standard Adobe Elements" so even if there are changes to be made to files it still might not work.

Adobe can truly be a PITA, but although I think they should have helped you, I understand their motives. They want you to buy from them, not from Apple or the App Store. I don't know why they even decided to do that. Like so many Adobe decisions, they work hard at discouraging you from buying their products. There are some good programs elsewhere for what Elements does. In particular is the freeware GIMP that is more like Photoshop. There are others out there to look at. You can browse for them at MacUpdate .

How To Safely Use Macupdate To Download Ad-Free Software

This site has both free and paid membership accounts. If you have neither then some software will be distributed as an installer wrapper that includes adware/malware you may not want. Such a download may appear on your computer like this: Firefox Installer.dmg. Delete the download and return to the main site where you will find a direct link to the developer's website. Use that link from which to download the software. Or a simpler way is to establish a free or paid membership to avoid problems getting adware with your download.

This morning I received a response from an Adobe employee from the Adobe Community board with a potential solution which I tried and it didn't work. I also received an email this morning from an Adobe employee to setup a contact for today to assist me.

Will update on how this all turns out!

Spent 5 hours working with Adobe Support, they contacted me, trying to resolve the problem. After trying everything, we reached agreement that the issue was with the PSE 14 from the App Store. He installed the "Trial Version" of PSE 14 for me and it works fine under Sierra. He was going to go back and try to recreate it on their computers and then have Development work with Apple to resolve.

Will update when I hear more!
