IPhone won't sync with Imac after 10.0.1

Since the upgrade to 10.0.1, I try to upload photos from my phone to my IMac as before. It first asks if I trust the computer. I say yes. Then it says the phone is on a pass code and I need to unlock it even tho it is.

I can't even access thru ITunes. It says it's an invalid response from the phone. I turn off the pass code feature but the same thing happens.

I am running 10.7.5 on my IMac. Does that have anything to do with it? Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Yes it does. You need to be running iTunes 12.5 now and OS X 10.9.

Syncing with iTunes on a Mac or PC requires:

Mac: OS X v10.9 or later
PC: Windows 7 or later
iTunes 12.5 or later (free download from www.itunes.com/download)

I also unable to sync photos to my iPhone 6 after installing iOS10.0.1 (macOS is 10.11.6). Photos will sync to my iPad Mini, with OS 9.3.5. As I recall, this same annoyance occurred the last time the iOS was upgraded.
