Q: Why did Apple Music screw up all my artwork?

After over a year of putting it off, I finally decided to give Apple Music a try. I was really pleased with it at first. It had reliable streaming with great sound quality. I loved the curated playlists that wre handpicked as opposed to algorithm-based. I also found it convenient that it was integrated in the Music app with all of my stored music (about 70GB worth). While browsing Apple Music, I found a playlist that I wanted to download for offline mode. When I started the download, it said I needed to turn on my iCloud Library. I was already very cautious about iCloud. I have heard horror stories of deleted libraries, stolen photos, stolen information, etc. and have always had all of my iCloud services turned off, ever since iCloud first came out. Anyway, I really liked the first impression Apple Music gave and so I decided to turn the iCloud Library on. What a huge mistake that was. I had no idea that it was going to replace around 40-50% of my album artwork. Keep in mind, I am very particular about my album artwork. I have spent hours upon hours updating albums in my iTunes library with the correct artwork. I was devastated when I found out that my artwork had been messed up after turning on the iCloud Library. Needless to say, I turned iCloud Library off as soon as I found out that it was the cause of my problems and went to sleep soon after. Little did I know that it would only make the problem worse. When I woke up this morning, about 80% of my music on my phone was deleted. Each album only had one or two songs on it. Suffice it to say, I'm pretty ****** right now. All of this was due to me finally caving in to this Apple Music. I think this is an abhorrent representation of a service that people are supposed to be paying $10/month for. Looking up this issue online, it's clear that Apple has known about this problem since Apple Music came out (whether they want to admit it or not). The new music app is abysmal. It started out as a simple, reliable app that has now grown into a chaotic mess. Why is it even necessary to have the iCloud Library turned on when trying to download a playlist for offline use? Why is the iCloud Library even programmed to replace our album artwork? Why is Apple Music integrated in the same app as our stored music (an idea that I initially thought was pretty convenient)? I need answers on how to get my songs and artwork back. I feel like if I attempt anything else it will just make the problem worse.
