opacity of notifications tab

Hello, I have the new iPhone 7 plus and now the IOS 10 upgrade as well. I find the notifications that appear on my phone are hard to read because it's light text on light background. The green was so much better. I see I can bold text my font which helps but then everyone on my phone is bold font. I only need to read my notifications better with darker background on the bar. any suggestions? thank you
