Multiple draft mail post upgrade to Sierra

Hi,

I'm seeing this weird behavior post-upgrade. While writing email, multiple drafts are saved and stay un-deleted even after sending email.

I'd appreciate any resolution to this.

Open mail application & its preferences click on accounts do exactly the same settings as shown in the screen shot to resolve the issue .

If one is opening mail , composing a new mail ( command + N ) , typing mail id in TO and FROM , writing the subject and clicking on save , so that whenever you want to do changes in the subject , the mail can be sent later .To delete a single mail saved in the draft , open mail click on draft folder , select the mail and swipe towards left & delete or you can do a right click on it and delete .

For deleting multiple mails in draft folder , select all mails ( Command + A ) , to delete all ( Command + Delete ) .

thanks for the effort you put into your reply, but this does not work for me.

The account is a pop account and I don't get the same menu. You only get that menu with an iMap account.

Here's what I see:

also, I have no problem deleting the drafts, or saving them if I want to save them. The behavior I want is:

1) A choice to autosave drafts (I would like the old checkbox for this to be restored, I don't know why Apple got rid of it).

2) delete a draft when i send the message.

It's annoying to have to go back and delete the drafts after I send the message.

I have exactly the same problem.

This problem started when I upgraded to 10.12 (now running 10.12.3).

I have seen posts about this being a problem with gmail and mac mail (I am using a POP account with another provider, so that's not it).

I have seen posts suggesting that I unclick the "save drafts" behavior flag in Preferences->accounts->mailbox behaviors. But in Apple's infinite wisdom sierra does not have that option.

I can delete the drafts, but it's just another manual step I have to do to keep my mail organized.

I like that it autosaves, I just need mac mail to delete the darned thing after the email is sent.

Does anyone know how to make this happen?

Today the problem occurred again, and I looked into exactly how it occurred.

The problem only occurs when I click reply on an email and then don't edit the email. After a minute or so, mail saves the email as a draft.

If I edit and send the email, or edit and delete the email, then mail will delete the draft.

However, if I don't edit the email and later close the email without sending it, the draft is not deleted.

I consider this a minor bug (though Apple should still put it on the bug list and fix it).

Here's the exact sequence.

1) select any received email

2) click on reply (the reply arrow works fine)

3) wait until mail saves a draft - do not edit the email

4) close the email (click the red button in the upper left corner)

the draft will remain in the draft folder. The dialog "Save this message as a draft?" will not appear.

Again, this is with a pop account.

And if I send the email, the draft is deleted.

I'd be curious to know if anyone else can repeat this problem (I'm using 10.12.13 on a macbook pro).
