Q: Issue with pages since update to Sierra

My document freezes and the sidebar opens with a message that says "nothing selected...select an object or text to format" -- This is happening every few minutes, and it didn't do this before Sierra. Does anyone  know how to make this stop?

    No.

Along with no idea what version of Pages you are talking about.

I'm seeing the same thing. Every so often, the document de-selects my text insertion and gives me the "nothing is selected" message in the inspector window. In addition, from time to time, the document will scroll to the top and de-select as if it had just re-loaded the entire document.

This happens mostly when I am not doing anything, but can happen in the middle of a sentence as I'm typing.

My assumption is that Pages is doing a refresh/sync of my document and is handling the result badly. This should all be happening in the background, but it isn't. I haven't tried it yet, but saving the document to the local drive may give you better results, as this could be an iCloud issue.

I am using Pages 6.0 on Sierra and with collaboration turned off.

Scott, you're exactly right.  That's exactly what it is.  I've been working on a document all day and I've noticed that when this happens, the little "circle" icon is going around next to iCloud drive....indicating (I think) that it's updating.  This is very annoying...I hope Apple finds a fix for this soon.

I have been experiencing the same problem ever since the Sierra Public Beta, and have had no response from Apple Feedback. Yesterday I saw this suggestion from Scott and have tried working with my wifi disconnected since then and have found that that stops the interruption, confirming, it seems to me, that Scott has hit the nail on the head. Hoping that Apple can now do something about it.
