Q: iOS 10 battery drain on iPhone 6s
iOS 10 downloaded and installed fast in my iPhone 6s 64gb model.
The new OS works great and fast with all apps, actually faster than before. Only exception is Mail app which takes 5 times or longer to update/refresh my inboxes.
Though the issue is that the battery is draining about 20% more than it did on iOS 9.3 before I upgraded to iOS 10.
I barely use the Background Refresh for any apps, only 3 apps were opened there.
Before the upgrade, in a typical usage of few phone calls, email checking once an hour, and 15 minutes of web browsing, at end of the day I would have 60% battery.
After the upgrade, with same usage, I now have 30% free battery at end of the day under same use conditions… I even removed all apps from Background refresh, and lowered the brightness settings, which made no difference whatsoever.
That is worrying, and read in several blogs online people reporting same issue post iOS 10 upgrade on their iPhone 6s or 6 devices. In them, many would say to not be alarmed because iOS is still re-indexing the data in the device, but now after almost 2 weeks of usage, I still see the reduced battery efficiency not only on my iPhone 6s, but on my parents’ iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6s Plus.
I tried also to drain the battery completely then fully charge to “recalibrate” it, but no difference was noticed.
