iOS 10 Bluetooth Calling Infiniti G37

Hi

Since upgrading to the AT&T iPhone 7 (unwillingly - long story) with iOS 10, I have the unfortunate experience that Bluetooth is unusable for calling in my 2013 Infiniti G37.

Previously, accepting a call from the iPhone 6 resulted in the microphone being routed improperly, but accepting a call from the car's phone controls worked - audio and microphone routed correctly through the car's handsfree system.

On the iPhone 7, no matter which way you dial or accept a call in the car, the audio and microphone inputs always go through the phone. This is even though the phone indicates, incorrectly, that the audio is being routed through bluetooth.

This is a dangerous situation because you have to take your eyes off the road to try to correct it by switching the audio to the iPhone speaker or the iPhone handset, then switch it back to bluetooth in order for the audio to work correctly. Not good while driving.

It seems like Apple or its suppliers needs to issue new firmware or software updates to make this work correctly, asap.

I just upgraded to the iPhone 7plus now running IOS 10.2.1 and tried to connect Bluetooth to my 2013 Infiniti JX35 and it was inconsistent. Played music then didn't followed by dropping all together. Wasn't the case with my iPhone 6. So I went to dealer and they updated software to recent update offered by Apple in October 2016. They said there were no other updates available and they have to wait for Apple to release it so we have to wait for that update! That just sounded crazy but definitely possible. The dealer update was free. I even went to apple and got a new iPhone 7 plus to see if that would help only later found out at second visit to dealer that the most recent update from October 2016 only supports up to IOS 10. I shouldn't have updated to IOS 10.2.1 I had no idea this would happen. So now I wait.

Hi Holwill71

I've the same car ("Infiniti FX30d S - 2013") as you.. Same problem.. after upgrading my Iphone 6S to ios 10 it doesn't work anymore .. when replying a call it simply do not respond with the car but with the phone (that thinks to be connected to the car ..)

At Infiniti Milan assistance point they told me they cannot do anything.. The only thing they can do is send an email to the Infiniti central operation headquartier

No Word.. You cannot have a 4 year car of this level that do not manage a new iOs and Infiniti do not do anything to solve this..

Do I need only the first DVD (the Update DVD) of the "Connect Premium X5 - Europe 2015" set.. right?

Thank you for your reply

Yes you need the first ,firmware update DVD (X3E52005). After the update everything went well for about 2 weeks. After the connection problem started again. Apple change the phone under warranty, in January. The issue was the same with the new phone too. What was working, I turned off 4G(LTE) on the 6s ( only 3G) . Luckily the iPhone 7 has no connection problems.

(If you need the DVD I go to Veneto every two weeks )

Nice! Just glad my dealership did it for free so I didn't have to chase Apple down. If you or anyone live in the Seattle area, tell them to get their car serviced at Infiniti of Tacoma. They are hands down the best in the area.

Thank you Holwill71

I've downloaded it from the link you write in the post.. it should work

Have you tried to deactivate LTE before the work? Could it be the problem?

the iPhone 7 do not have this problem after the car firmware update? just to be sure not to throw my money for nothing... does it work with active LTE?

thank you so much for your help.. very appreciated

My iPhone 7 never had a connection issue with the Infiniti ,but there is a post where hundreds of owners have issue with iPhone 7 too. When we updated the 6s for ios10 we couldn't answer for the incoming calls anymore.Apple recommended the update for Infiniti cars. After the car update everything was working again for about 2weeks. One day the issue came back. After the warranty change we still had the problem. I looked after again in the community and that helped for someone's if they turned off the Lte. Since we limited the 6s for 3G, the the problem disappeared.
