Q: Is it possible to resize photos in iOS 10 on iPad Air 2?

Greetings all,

When emailing with a photo taken with the front 8 MP camera in our new iPad, the photo is way to big when viewed on the recipient's PC. It would be very helpful to resize the picture in Photo Editor prior to, or in Mail before sending. Is it possible? If it requires opening another app to edit my wife won't use it.

Thanks,

~Ed

Open the Camera app then locate the photo then tap the edit icon (three horizontal blue bars) at the bottom of the screen then tap the resize icon on the left. Resize the photo then tap Done then tap the Share icon.

    Carolyn,

Thanks for the tip. I tried it and it works, it allows me to change the size on the iPad, but unfortunately doesn't change the size of the picture file that is emailed so it is still to big when viewed on the recipients PC. It is a 1.6 mb jpg.

You can just simply select the image (size doesn't matter) in the iOS Photos app, select the Share icon/symbol, choose email.

When the image comes up in the body of the iOS Mail window, go up to the email headings area, in the middle Cc/Bcc heading area, there should be a note at the right indicating the image size.

Tap on those words and image option sizes appear to send the image/s at different sizes

The options are Small, Medium, Large, Actual size.

    Good Luck!

    Michel,

It works, the smallest size setting is actually to small. That's great, now I can experiment and pick the size that displays the best.

It is interesting to note that I spent 45 minutes today in a chat with Apple Support and was told that it is impossible to change the size, period.

Thanks so much for the tip, you have saved the day.

Try a hard reset of your iPad by holding down both the Home and sleep/wake buttons simultaneously until your iPad goes to black and restarts with Apple logo, then release the buttons.

    Good Luck!

I am NOT running iOS 10, so I do NOT know if something changed. Try the hard reset to see if anything changes.

If nothing changed, I haven' t a clue how this is done in iOS 10 without this feature.

The procedure I outlined still works in iOS 10.

I posted a question about this and another of our regular forum contributors confirmed that this still works as it did in iOS 9.

    You have done something wrong.

Here's the procedure, one more time.

In iOS Photos App, you simply tap Select in the upper right hand corner, select the image (size doesn't matter) , select the Share icon/symbol in the upper left (square box with an up arrow in the center).

    A popup window opens.

    Then, choose email/Mail.

The iOS Mail app will pop up an email window.

When the image comes up in the body of the iOS Mail window, go up to the email headings area, in the upper middle section Cc/Bcc heading area, there should be a note at the far right of the panel indicating the image size.

Tap on those words and the words change to a blue symbol that looks something like this.

A series of blue thin boxes with image option sizes appear to send the image/s at different sizes

The options are Small, Medium, Large, Actual size.

Tap on one of those size options to email out those images at a certain size.

Here's a link to my posting that shows what you should be seeing in the iOS Mail app when changing the size of images in the Mail app in iOS 9 or 10.

    hello MichelPM

i really appreciate your effort to help me but I don't risolve the problem

i don't know why it happens To my iPhone SE

I tried once more time to do step by step what you explain to me.

yyour manual was very good and it worked exactly right to this step:

'When the image comes up in the body of the iOS Mail window, go up to the email headings area, in the upper middle section Cc/Bcc heading area, there should be a note at the far right of the panel indicating the image size.'

IT does not appear the panel indicating the image size.

if I would be able to register a video of my problem I will send it to you just to see what exactly happened

unfortunatelly i am not able to do that so I am trying to describe with my poor English.

I Also watched and read the discussion you have done with other yousers   Saw also the picture attached

the problem is that my iPhone SE doesn't do that

    i I don't know why.

may be I still do some step in the wrong way but please show me which one

still know I was doing exactly what you write to me.

    i Repeat

i am new with iPhone, never use it before. I buy one just two weeks ago

I Was using samsung with android for five years and wanted to change it.

i Dont know. May be there is some conflict with applications that I installed in my iPhone?

i Am running 2 mail applications: the mail from iPhone which I found integrated on iPhone

and than I installed the mail from google - gmail

but while I was running my iPhone with iOS 9 it was working good

the problem went immediately I installed iOS 10 on my iPhone SE

if it will not work I am Thinking to turn back and downgrade to iOS 9

what do you think ? Is it a bad idea?

    thank you for your patience:)

I am at a loss to explain this, either.

I have two email accounts, also, but I designated my gmail account as my primary account.

You can't revert back to a previous iOS once you upgrade to a newer one.

Apple has no procedures for downgrading to a previous iOS version.

    Sorry.
