Q: Finding a recovery code

I had to update my Apple ID. I've managed to change it on multiple devices but not on an older iPod Touch running iOS6.1.6 (it can't be updated). It's asking for a recovery code, and I can't use the 6-digit codes that are being sent via my iPhone. Where can I get this code?

    Greetings NJM55,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It seems like you want to change the Apple ID on the iPod touch but you need to change your recovery key.
I would recommend you read this article, it may be able to help troubleshoot the issue.

If you lost your Recovery Key

As long as you remember your Apple ID password and still have access to one of your trusted devices, you can sign in and create a new Recovery Key.

    1. Go to your Apple ID account page.
    2. Sign in with your password and trusted device.
    3. In the Security section, click Edit > Replace Lost Key.

Keep your new Recovery Key in a safe place. Your old Recovery Key won't work anymore and you can't use it to reset your password or access your account.

If you can't sign in with two-step verification using your Apple ID - Apple Support

    Take care.
