bbciplayer query

I tried to watch a rerun of a drama on the BBC website but it states "sorry you need Flash to play this. Enable it in your browser or download Flash Player here."

Check on my System Preferences and Flashplayer is already there. In fact version 23.0.0.162 is already installed with no new updates. and will not update further.

I can still view youtube videos, so what else can I do?

I am not an experienced Yosemite imac user so I would appreciate any help in basic language nothing to technical and complex.

OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

Please go to your Safari> Preferences> Security and then go to the Internet Plug Ins, select Allow Plugins and then

click on Plug-in Settings and set up as below, or something more suitable for you, but the BBC one should be ON.

Many thanks Eau Rouge. Also the image you showed proved very helpful. The screen showed discussions.apple.com and flashplayer was off (I clicked them both on) but no sign of bbc.co.uk. I checked the website (BBC) and it is working so a big thankyou.

Note: YouTube can use HTML5 to play videos - a far superior method than Flash, this maybe why it was working.

Supposedly the BBC are supposed to be switching to HTML5, I am surprised they have not yet done so. Ah, it seems this is still in beta. See - http://iplayerhelp.external.bbc.co.uk/tv/html_5_beta
