Could be a runaway process. See:

I am not sure if this is cuz of Safari but I have the same issue after upgrading to Sierra. I have checked Activity Monitor and reset SMC control, gone back to Capitan etc. The most high CPU usage that I found with activity Monitor was Launchesservsd which was using average 25% of CPU. I thought this was not a big of deal overall. However, Fan keeps running constantly and heating up after 5 or 10 mins laptop wake up under normal use.

It's not just a Safari or Firefox issue. I had neither running when I ran Etrecheck and got these results. Webcontent in Mail.app is hitting 200% CPU. While the CPU temp is not 160 ℉ with Mail running (as with Safari and Firefox), it's still elevated, 135 ℉

EtreCheck version: 3.0.5 (309)

Report generated 2016-09-26 10:08:38

Download EtreCheck from https://etrecheck.com

Runtime 1:51

Performance: Excellent

Here what I did and solved the issue "for now"

Backup your laptop with time machine if you have prior backups that would be better cuz you could go back to Capitan. But I didn't have any backup so I backupped mine after installed Sierra which is not the best idea but I got no choice.

Once I backupped the computer, I wiped out my HDD and reinstall Sierra. then I used Migration Assistant and moved only "Application" and "document and data" back. because I have tried moving back Application and Computer and Network setting back, problem wasn't solved. so I believe the overheating issue was caused by the combination of prior computer setting and Sierra.

so

Backup with time machine>erase the HDD>clean install Sierra>migration assistant

I wouldn't recommend restoring the backup from time machine, it would probably bring the causes back to laptop again. loosing prior computer and network setting should not be a huge loss for anyone I guess.

I had removed Trusteer from Safari some time ago because it was causing Safari to run slow, especially at startup. I didn't know that it was still being run at laptop startup. The Uninstall Trusteer app was corrupted, so I downloaded a new one and uninstalled it. Mail, Safari, and Firefox are all running normally now (in Activity Monitor) and CPU heat is a non-issue. Thanks.
