Hi, ever since this last update iTunes crashes every time I close it.
I says ITunes has stopped responding and will close. So, every time I open iTunes it first has to check the library.
Anyone else have this problem?

I have the same problem. It's a real pain. I also notice that although I restore the sidebar when first using Itunes, this setting is lost during this crash on closure.
Try holding down ctrl+shift next time you launch iTunes, enable the side bar then close and reopen. Any better?

That made no difference I am afraid.
Looking at various Apple help sources its clear this is a common problem with the latest release. I don't if the change to the file format has made a difference. My entire library and all itunes system files are on an external hard disk.
Its a real pain to have to wait while my library is checked every time I start up itunes.
I have tended to resist new itunes upgrades when the first come out after several problems over the years, but foolishly applied this update thinking it was mature.
My library is on an external drive and works fine. The application should normally be installed on the system drive. What anti-virus software do you have? Occasionally AV software can interfere with the way iTunes updates its files, one of the symptoms being the loss of settings when iTunes reopens. Did you explore behaviour with a new library or user profile?
