Q: Pages 5.6.2 struggling with tiered numbered headings

There are older similar topic but years later I hope they are resolved. I have a couple of documents (even several book manuscripts) that became messy switching from Pages 9...

Next to inserted pictures it is the numbering of headings, especially the tiered numbers. As it seems a numbering format is not stored with the paragraph style? Why is that?

While on a new document I can create a tiered numbering on the existing ones it seems impossible to add another chapter - no copy and paste of existing paragraphs nor anything else seems to help. It simply shows no Tiered Number, it even doesn't continue from previous. And all this because we strive for the same functionality on iOS as on OSX - understood that. But after so many years in should now work, shouldn't it? Apps like iMODELER work seamlessly online on any device.

Pages 5 for Mac only had to meet the minimum standards that Apple set for the iOS version.

To do that they didn't bother with over 120 missing features and made a string of really bad UI choices.

Once it came out to resounding raspberries from the Users because their work got trashed without warning, my guess is that Apple lost interest and put it on the backburner and nobody wanted to own the donkey when there were far more interesting jobs in iOS.

Apple decided to give Pages 5 away for free, and that was the value ($0) that they have placed on it ever since.

Apple is not responsible for iModeler otherwise it too would be like Pages 5.

All releases of Pages v5/v6 represent a substantial, functionality subset of Pages '09 v4.3. Certain unsupported features from Pages '09 created documents will be excluded (or mangled) when you grant the newer Pages conversion/save permission from the older document format.

weird that it works with a new document - so it basically seems to be a migration problem. should be less than a week of work for a mediocre programmer
