Q: Ipad photo sync issues

I having issues syncing my photos to my ipad air.

I'm on a pc.

trying to sync a folder with 20+ directories - 5000+ photos

never have had an issue synching in the past

ipad is on ios10

(I was having issues with the ipad photo sync prior to updating to ios10

the directories were all there and in order, but the photos were not in the proper directory(s) - no rhyme or reason.)

when I try and sync my photos to my ipad and it gets 20-30 random pics uploaded and then gets stuck.

I ended up doing a fresh install of ios10 - no restore from backup.

also deleted the 'ipod photo cache' directory, restarted ipad, restarted itunes, etc.

same sync issue.

I tried moving the photos to a new directory.

same issue...just a handful of photos synched into a handful of folders.

I tried uploading individual folders rather than entire directory - same result. uploads a handful of photos but not all of them. subsequent sync's do not complete the file set upload.

I was able to sync the same folder to my ipone 6+ and now iphone 7 with no issues.

I'm stumped... :-(

never seen anything like this. and feel like i've tried every remedy I can think of.

any thoughts???

Me too. I wish I had good news to share with you. I and others (a Level 10 on the ASC for instance) have had issues with the Photos App on iOS for years and hours and hours with AppleCare Level 2 have not resolved it. Please see this old thread for details.

Re: Photos sync'd to iPhone from iTunes all messed up in iOS 8.1

(there is a newer thread on The Lounge but you would not have access to it, nothing really new, just more of the same).

All I can suggest is a fresh install of iOS 10 to see if it helps (a System Restore). Also make sure your iTunes is up to date, 12.5.1.

System Restore. First backup your device using iTunes. Also import your photos to your computer and copy all important data if possible. Try restoring from backup first and testing it. If it does not help, you may have to restore as New and reconfigure from scratch as the backup could be corrupted. For this reason it is important to have your photos and data saved separately from the backup. Here are the steps for a Restore:

    Thanks for comments.

I have done a fresh install to my ipad.  With no fix.

Weird it works so well on my iphone but the ipad just can't handle it.

It used to...not sure what got funked up.

As I mentioned about, I've deleted the ipod photo cache directory and changed the folders to sync with no fix.
