iMc 5K, late 2014, 4Ghz 2.7 I7, mac 15,1. Since updating to Sierra, the machine has become almost unusable. The reaction time on the trackpad and keyboard has slowed down drastically. Moving a finger on the trackpad doesn't produce a result until anywhere from 10 seconds to as long as several minutes! Have restarted several times, and last night the cursor just froze; wound up doing forced shutdown. Very frustrated.

Problem solved. The idea to do a process of elimination popped into my head, regarding a number of external devices I had plugged in. I unplugged them all, and attached them, one at a time, and when I plugged in the receiver for an old Microsoft wireless mouse, the trackpad started freezing. I worked for Apple for over ten years, and recently retired, due to medical issues, after two years on medical leave so It just came to me to do this. Everything works as it should!
Excellent job on solving the problem. Must be the old MS mouse receiver is somehow incompatible with Sierra.
