Q: While preparing a "pages" document, how do I hyphenate words?

While I am writing a presentation using "pages" I need to use a hyphen. Ho do I do so?

Aside from just letting Pages itself perform the hyphenation for you, by enabling hyphenation on the Document panel in Pages v5.6.2, you need to be aware of two types of special characters:

    1. Non-breaking space (option+spacebar)
      1. The string “this word” (without the quotes) that contains a non-breaking space will wrap to the next line.
    2. Non-breaking hyphen (control+command+spacebar) followed by:
      1. search for U+2011, this is your non-breaking hyphen
      2. double-click on the non-breaking hyphen to insert into Pages at the insertion beam.
      3. The string “hyperactive-hyphen” will wrap the entire string to the next line, and not break on the hyphen.
