Q: How do you disable photo analysis?

You used to be able to switch off faces. I can't find an option to stop photo analysis. Anyone know how?

You used to be able to switch off faces.

That worked in iPhoto, because of the unified iPhoto/Aperture Library. But Photos does not share the library with Aperture, and so there are no hidden preferences to disable the face recognition - I could find no trace of such a preference.  The face recognition, the places,  and the scan for categories are needed for the new memory feature.

Thanks léonie, there doesn't seem to be a way of switching off memories either, I keep deleting all the ones that are created. It really is a waste of time.

The only setting you can disable is "Photos > Preferences > General: Show Holiday Events".

That will reduce the number of memories.
