Bookmark option disappeared

Same thing happens. Whether I use the shortcut or do it manually (Safari/Bookmarks/Add Bookmark). No option to actually add it as a bookmark. The only way is to drag it to the bookmark bar. There's no longer "Bookmark" that's supposed to appear in that little drop down below "Top Sites".

My favorites are listed across the top on my favorites toolbar. 24 hours before this problem happened, there was a "built-in" bookmarks section/folder. Try it on your computer. You should be able to select Bookmark when it says "Add file to..."

And even though I knew choosing favorites wasn't going to fix it, I tried it yesterday and sure enough it went to my toolbar. Removing the toolbar is t a suitable workaround either. There's definately something wrong.

OK,I'm starting to think either my question is worded funny or people aren't reading it through haha. My bookmarks aren't missing. They are all there. But the option to add bookmarks no longer...works b/c it's not there. When I click to add, I'm forced to put it in a sub-folder. Or I have to drag it to the bookmark bar. In the original image up too, it used t say "Bookmark" right below "Favorites". Now its gone. And the "Edit" button is gone from the bottom of the bookmark bar. Yes, I can still edit by clicking Bookmarks/Edit Bookmarks, but it's slower. Plus, I'd hate to think that these computers just change random things with no notice.

This is an image from my iPad. See the default bookmark folder, that everyone has? My mac had it not even 2 days ago, but not anymore.

OK, did that. No luck. same problem. It's the strangest thing. I haven't downloaded anything or gone to any suspicious sites (I checked) in the last 48 hours. I don't understand what happened.
