headphone mix in Logic pro x?

Hi,

Can someone point me to a video tutorial to show me how to set up a headphone mix? where to/how route/send it etc.

I am getting a headphone amp and wish to send a headphone mix to it but I have no idea what to do!

Any help appreciated, I am quite new to all this!

If you are looking for something simple...

1/ create a aux track in the mixer - set its input to a bus ( I.e bus 7 or whatever you want ) and set the output of that channel strip to your headphone output

2/ on each track add a send routed to bus 7 ( or whatever bus you chose above). the send controls the level going to the aux track which is associated with the headphones.

Make sense ?

Click and hold the send on the channel strip, at the top there is a Pre Fade and Post Fade setting.

It's set to post fade by default. Setting it to pre fade will mean that the mix you send to the headphones will not be altered if you move the fader on the track. The signal is sent down the bus before it hits the fader (hence pre fade). That way, if you spend time setting up different headphone mixes for different people, the mixes won't be altered if you want to change the fader levels in the control room or out of your main monitors.
