Oct 2, 2016 10:31 AM in response to Drake Leby Luis Sequeira1,It works fine here.
Try restarting in Safe Mode. Does it work? Then restarting normally again. Does it work?
If it works only in Safe Mode, there is a software conflict. Try creating a new user and see if it works for that user. If it does then it is specific to your account.
Run Etrecheck and post its report.

Change the location "icons" to the destination folder where you want it saved.
Can you rename now?

I hope so. The point of trying another user is to determine if the problem is caused by something that you have on your own account. This was meant as a test, not a permanent solution.
Please run Etrecheck and post its report here, so we can try and figure out what is there that may be causing this (a login item? a launch agent, ...)

Oct 5, 2016 3:06 AM in response to acpootby Luis Sequeira1,First of all, I must say that I never tried this on Icon View... I hardly use it, and I assumed it would work the same as in List or Column View. It turns out I was wrong. In my mac, I can do the click to replace in List View or Column View, but not in Icon View. So it seems this is not some problem specific to you.
That said, the report does show you have "cleanmymac" - this is BAD. Never use any programs that claim to "clean" your mac. They can only damage your system. These are scams.

Oct 5, 2016 4:41 AM in response to Luis Sequeira1by acpoot,Oh so you have the same problem. I believe this Macos Sierra needs an urgent update.
About Cleanmymac 3 this is an amazing app you should try it,is very handy to free space, to empty trash when Mac just can't, to check wich folders or files are the heaviest, uninstall programs, and other features. As you mentioned it could damage your system I can't hardly tell that is possible but obviously if you erase things that you don't have any idea it could. In my side I've been working for like a year and never had a problem and I can tell that I installed this app after having thi issue with Sierra.
Thank for your help and feedback

Be very careful how you use it. Don't use it on photo libraries.
When I tested Cleanmymac 3 on a test Photos Library, it did a reckless deletion of essential content. It deleted all original RAW files of edited photos and replaced the precious RAW originals by the edited JPEG versions, so it was no longer possible to revert the edited photos to the original versions, and quite a few replaced originals have been linked incorrectly. And it removed essential caches that are needed for a fast performance. The next time I started Photos on the cleaned library, it was very slow, because it needed to recreate the cached content.

I see the same thing that you do, and it is inconsistent with how the system behaves in other modes.
I don't think that is a big problem, not enough to justify an urgent update. Still, send feedback to Apple about it.
The macOS does not need cleaning, and if you search these forums you'll see that most people advise against these programs. The apparent convenience of a few extra GB may not pay off when the next update breaks or suddenly programs crash because you, or a program you installed, decided to delete a bunch of "unneeded" files. I am glad that you have not had any problems so far, but you may. I am sure that cleanmymac or similar programs will not be allowed into my mac or anyone that I provide support for (coworkers, family members and friends).
